Who we are

We are members of the faculty in the Data Science and AI (DSAI) division at Chalmers University of Technology. We are part of the Computer Science and Engineering department, a joint department at Chalmers and the University of Gothenburg. Research in the division has a wide span, from neurosymbolic AI to health informatics. With an increased demand for advanced information systems, computer applications, and autonomous decision making in nearly all areas of society, data science and AI are increasingly becoming necessary tools for tackling important societal challenges.

Our division provides high quality education at the Bachelor’s, Master’s and graduate levels, offering over 120 courses each year. We also have extensive national and international collaborations with academia and industry. At DSAI, our expertise and research interests span the following research areas:

  • algorithm theory (design, complexity, randomness)
  • optimization and operations research (scheduling, routing)
  • theoretical ML research (learning, decision-making)
  • health informatics, bioinformatics and computational biology
  • data-driven molecular engineering
  • natural language processing (text analysis, representation learning, multimodality)
  • autonomous vehicles
  • mathematical modelling and problem solving

Several research activities in the division are supported by the Chalmers AI Research Initiative (CHAIR) and the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Programme (WASP).

At DSAI, you will form a part of a vibrant and supportive environment. You can learn more about the research performed at DSAI in the weekly DSAI seminars. The seminars are open to the public, with research talks organized by researchers at the division.

EDIT building
